Our Sense Organs

1.6 Our nose

How is our nose important to us?
Parts of the nose
Our nose is made up of the nostrils and nosal chamber.

  • Nostrils: Scents are carried by titny particles which float in the air. When we sniff, these scent particles enter our nose through our nostrils.
  • Nosal Chamber: The nasal chamber is a big space in our nose.
The top part of the nosal chamber contains structures that pick out scent particles. These structures send messages to our brain to tell us what we are smelling.
