Our Skin

How is our skin important to us?
Parts of the skin
Our skin covers our body. Our skin is made up of an outer layer and an inner layer.

  • Outer Layer: This is the layer of skin that we can see. It prevents dirt from getting into our body.
  • Inner Layer: This is the innder layer of the our skin. It has structures that collect information about things we touch. When we touch something, the structures send messages to our brain to tell us how the thing feels.
  • The patterns on the skin of our fingers are called fingerprints. No two people have the same fingerprint.
